Question #4
I think that the scratch board was very challenging yet successful project. It was a long process to get the finished product but at the end I think it's some of my best work. To start the project I had to think of different things I could scratch that would show movement. The very first thing I thought of was water or fire because those always show lots of movement. Then I started to think of animals that showed movement. My mind went to fish. That's when I thought of jellyfish. they show lots of movement with all their arms and body. I thought it was perfect. My other idea was a waterfall/stream. I drew mini sketches of them and out of all 8 I chose one of the jellyfish. I then on a bigger piece of paper drew my sketch and how I planned to place everything. Mrs. Rossi had us practice a little on a small piece of scratch board and I felt a little nervous that i would make a mistake on the real thing. When I finally got to work on the final project I lightly sketched an outline of where I was gonna place everything. I then used the tools proved to scratch out the jellyfish. I found it challenging to make it look shaded and realistic because instead of using shadows to make vaul I was using light. I soon realized that the more lines I added the more realistic it looked. I messed up a couple of time but with a bit of think I was able to cover up the mistakes and now they're unnoticeable. These project was my favorite one because it's so different from any art I have ever made. It challenged me and really make me think. I think it turned out beautiful. I hope I get to work with scratchboard again. |
